What is the difference between ISO 4032 and DIN 934?

2023-11-09

There are two widely accepted worldwide standards for hex nuts: ISO 4032 and DIN 934. There are various distinctions between the two standards, despite the fact that they serve the same overall objective.

An international standard for regular hexagon nuts with metric threads is ISO 4032. Dimensions, material, mechanical qualities, and surface polish are all specified. According to ISO 898-1, bolts, screws, and studs with property classes 4.8 to 12.9 are suitable for use with ISO 4032 hex nuts.

In contrast, the German standard for all-purpose hex nuts is DIN 934. It is exclusively used for fastening with coarse threaded bolts, screws, and studs, even though it also defines dimensions, material, mechanical qualities, and surface finish. Steel, brass, and stainless steel are just a few of the materials that are available for DIN 934 hex nuts.

In conclusion, DIN 934 covers general-purpose hex nuts for use with coarse threaded bolts, screws, and studs, whereas ISO 4032 covers metric hex nuts for use with bolts, screws, and studs of different property classes.
